In 1950 New Lynn was a Borough with its own Borough Council and Mayor.
A real estate agent Mr Prime constructed the building at 14 Delta avenue as an investment retirement earner for his wife Marion Prime and hence the building was called Marion Court.
The first tenants were McCullough’s Drapery on the front ground floor (now Kip McGrath Education Centre). Med lab occupied the back rear of the ground floor of the building. Dr Jim Cameron Campbell started a Dental Practise on the top floor front of the building. Two dental technicians, Leslie McGeehan and Harley Taylor, worked making dentures on the top floor, rear of the building.
In 1965 Dr Jim Campbell was joined by new graduate dentist, Dr Ben Wong who practiced with him for 4 years before before going to London for overseas experience.
Dr Hasan Imam purchased the practice and introduced new techniques and equipment including tooth whitening, computerisation, biological testing to ensure 100% sterilisation of all instruments used on patients. New tooth coloured light cured fillings, crowns, bridges, implants and root canal treatments. However all the past dental treatments of extractions, dentures, fillings, clean and polishing are still being carried out.
New Lynn Dental Care is still well placed to continue the care of it’s patients well into the future.
